SPIRA

Master Data Hub - single source of truth for energy assets

The situation this answers

The address sits in one place, the metering point in another, and the installation data in a third system that was set up for something else. None of it is outright wrong, but none of it matches. The discrepancy surfaces far down the chain, usually in settlement, and usually only when the customer calls about an invoice. Then you work backwards through the systems to find which one was right.

Fits best when

  • One and the same metering point exists in several systems, and no one can say which one applies.
  • You need to follow an installation from advance notice to completion notice, and on to closure.
  • You want master data errors caught at registration, not discovered in settlement.
  • Several systems pull master data from you, and they need the same answer every time.
  • You want to solve this without replacing the rest of your systems landscape.

What you get

  • Fewer data quality incidents
  • Full audit compliance
  • Automated validation saves hours of manual work
  • Easy integration with existing systems

SPIRA works on its own and requires no other modules.

What we do not cover: SPIRA does not meter: no metering value collection, no settlement, no invoicing.

How it works

SPIRA validates and structures master data for reliable operations and integrations. In an industry where data quality is critical for billing, regulatory compliance, and market integrations, SPIRA gives you full control of your metering point and installation information. Built for Elhub and Norwegian REN requirements - on a modular platform architected for adaptation across markets.

The functions in detail

Installations and assets
One register for installations, equipment, owners and contacts - an overview of the grid infrastructure seen from the end customer's side. The installation is created first, with address, postcode, municipality and coordinates, and the metering point is placed on the installation. From there it is followed through the whole lifecycle, from first registration to final closure, with full history.
Metering points and data quality
EAN-18/GSRN identifier, Elhub channels, supplier history and annual energy, for every metering point type including submetering. Master data is validated automatically against regulatory requirements and business rules, and changes leave an audit trail.
Work orders
Creation, planning and execution, with meter swaps and component installation as distinct steps in the order. Field work gets full traceability.
Elhub integration
Registration, activation and queries over BRS-NO-121, 122, 212, 302, 303, 402 and 701, so that communication with Elhub runs automatically. The same register is read over REST APIs, documented in Swagger, by billing and other systems.
Meters and components
Stock levels, serial and communication numbers, installation and removal, and a component map. The meter fleet and component logistics are kept in one place.
Field service
Powercatch, Handyman and SpeedyCraft connect through webhook callbacks, so field service can be coordinated with external installers.
Inspections
Case handling with inspectors, deviations, owner lookups, documentation and photographs, integrated with Cubit. The inspection case is linked to the installation it concerns.
Cadastre and ownership data
Integration with Kartverket, the Norwegian mapping authority, with owner synchronisation, and lookups against Brreg, the Norwegian business register. Ownership data stays up to date automatically.
Authentication and access control
JWT-based sign-in, two-factor authentication with TOTP and SSO via Microsoft Entra ID, with role-based access.

Terms used here tvimenning.no/en/ordbok

Metering point
The fundamental unit in Elhub - the unique point in the electricity network where energy is measured and settled, identified by an 18-digit GSRN number.
Master Data
The authoritative source data in a System of Record (Master) - data owned, maintained and edited in one place, from which all other systems retrieve copies.
Settlement
Turning metering data into money. Consumption and production per metering point become what each party owes or is owed.
Validation
The first step in VEE - automated checks of metering data against technical and logical limits to detect obviously erroneous values.
Elhub
National hub for metering data and market processes in the Norwegian electricity market.
REN
Norwegian Organisation for Rational Electric Network Operations - industry organisation for technical standards in electricity networks.
