What has been approved
TvimenningOld Norse meaning 'two bound together' - one who solves a task shoulder to shoulder with another. has had its SkatteFUNN application approved for STUBBTvimenning's simulator platform for integration testing - we build mock environments of the counterparties your systems talk to, so they can be tested without touching production., our test platform for the energy sector. The Research Council of Norway approved all three work packages without changes.
The project runs for three years, from April 2026 to April 2028.
SkatteFUNN is the Norwegian tax incentive scheme for research and development, administered by the Research Council of Norway.
What STUBB does
STUBBTvimenning's simulator platform for integration testing - we build mock environments of the counterparties your systems talk to, so they can be tested without touching production. simulates the external systems that grid companies integrate against, among them ElhubNational hub for metering data and market processes in the Norwegian electricity market., ElSmartNorwegian AMI platform for collecting, validating and distributing metering data from smart electricity meters for grid companies. and the Norwegian Mapping Authority, with realistic behaviour and correct protocols. A complete workflow can then be run through without touching production systems.
What the work covers
The work packages address three questions:
- Semantic state modelling across protocols and interfaces, from RESTRepresentational State Transfer - architectural style for APIs based on HTTP and resource-oriented design. and SOAPSimple Object Access Protocol - XML-based messaging protocol used in enterprise integrations, including Elhub. to OT systems
- Formalising fault knowledge into a diagnostic engine
- How faults propagate between systems
The last one is the hardest. A fault rarely appears where it is noticed, and a test setup that mirrors only one system at a time will not find it.
Why it matters
The approval is an external assessment from the Research Council that this is genuine research and development, not only product development.
