GJELDE brings metering values, tariffs, agreements and calculation rules together in one place and works out what each party is owed. The point is not to calculate fastest, but to be able to show how the number was arrived at: which metering values were used, which tariff applied when, which agreement was in force, and which rule was applied. The invoice is produced and sent, gentle reminders are handled inside the system, and debt collection runs through an integration with whoever the customer already uses. The name is Old Norse: the verb means both to be valid and to pay, and the noun means debt. The word therefore carries both halves of a settlementTurning metering data into money.
