Definition

Mesh is the object-oriented data-handling system underpinning Volue's Smart Power suite, taking over from SMG in production planning. The object-oriented modelling is not an implementation detail but the difference itself: where the SMG world carries embedded assumptions about how data relates, Mesh expresses those relationships explicitly in the model. That gives more structure and better reuse, but it also means a direct translation from SMG is rarely the right answer. The data model has to be rethought, not moved.

In practice

In practice it is worth distinguishing Mesh from the general networking sense of "mesh" - here it is a named Volue system, not a topology. The practical consequence of the paradigm shift is that SMG expertise does not transfer one to one. People who know production planning from SMG still know the domain, but the tool requires a new understanding of how objects are modelled - and during the transition they have to handle both at once.
