Volue is migrating production planning from SMG to Mesh. The transition between a system being phased out and an entirely new data-modelling paradigm creates operational risk neither party owns. That gap is what we fill.

Two systems, one gap in ownership

SMG is the established production-planning system for hydro, thermal and gas. Mesh is the newer, object-oriented data-handling system underpinning Volue's Smart Power suite. During the transition, both have to work at once.

A paradigm shift, not an upgrade

Mesh models data in an object-oriented way. It is not the same system in new clothes - assumptions that held in SMG do not necessarily hold any more.

Nobody owns the space between

The vendor owns its products, you own operations. The transition phase itself - where both run in parallel - rarely has anyone with defined responsibility for it.

The project eats operations

The people who know the systems best get tied up in the migration project. Day-to-day operations on the old system get deprioritised exactly when they are most fragile.

What we do

The service is being shaped, and the points below are the content we are building it around. If you are in the middle of the SMG to Mesh migration, this is the moment to say so - at this stage customer needs decide what we take on first.

Operating SMG through the phase-out

We keep the existing setup stable while your internal resources are tied up in the migration.

Managing Mesh after the cutover

The period right after migration holds the most surprises. We follow up the data model and operations through it.

Verifying data across the cutover

We verify that what comes out on the Mesh side actually matches what was in SMG.

One point of contact for the whole

You avoid coordinating between the old, the new and the vendor. We keep the overview across all three.

The same pattern as the rest of Røkte

We do not compete with Volue. We take care of something another vendor delivered but which lacks a good enough operations service around it - exactly as with ECP/EDX.

An extension, not a replacement

The vendor keeps product responsibility. We are the operations layer around it, on your side of the table.

We know both sides of the transition

Both the system being retired and the model arriving. That is what it takes to spot when something has changed without anyone saying so.
